Today after service I was approached by a couple people with the question about faithful church attendance. Both questions had the same flow to them, is it necessary to attend church in person or is the Internet just as good. A quick answer would be Acts 2:42-47 where the early church would meet daily from house to house and in the temple courts. Then there is the time tested text found in Hebrews 10:24,25 “let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching”. The writer of Hebrews give us three key observations concerning gathering together. First in foremost we are to stir each other up in the love of God and for each other. Secondly it allows our various gifts to be used for ministry as we put our faith in action doing good works. Our third observation that it allows us to exhort one another, a better way to say this would be it’s a designated time when we can encourage one another to continue in the faith.
